DragynWulf: How did drawing the Marvel vS System job land in your hands?
Jonboy Meyers: Well I was very fortunate to have done some work for Marvel in the past on their Marvel Age Spiderman line, and heard that Upper Deck was looking for folks to do some trading card work, showed some samples and well the rest is history...
DragynWulf: What did you know about the character prior to getting the Marvel vS System job?
Jonboy Meyers: I'm a huge Taskmaster Fan, he's probably one of THE most underrated villains out there--him going toe to toe with Hawkeye and Antman was one of the first Avenger issues I remember reading as a kid.
DragynWulf: When you were working on the card did you know it would be added into the Marvel Legends: Taskmaster action figure package?
Jonboy Meyers: Yep, it's something Upper Deck does every 4 waves--so I knew I better do a decent job on it--especially since it's linked with the toyline.
DragynWulf: What are your thoughts on a character like the Taskmaster?
Jonboy Meyers: Best Costume and best powers bar none! He's SO underrated--I mean he's ALL of the Avengers Rolled into one!
DragynWulf: Did you go through any ruff drafts when deciding on the image to draw for the Marvel vS System Card?
Jonboy Meyers: Yeah I usually done 2-3 roughs before submitting a final--I try to do as many dynamic shots as I can based off of the Description Upper Deck gives me, then let them pick the best of the roughs.
DragynWulf: Did you enjoy drawing Taskmaster?
Jonboy Meyers: Yep--Visually he's got a lot of cool gear on him and well the Skull Face doesn't hurt.
DragynWulf: What made you decide to add Spider-man to the image on the Marvel vS System Card instead of just drawing an image of Taskmaster?
Jonboy Meyers: Well it all ties directly to the Card Game and Upper Deck specifically asked that a Beat up Spiderman be added to the image. My only regret was that I wasn't able to put him on his sky sled.
DragynWulf: What was the hardest part of drawing the character for you?
Jonboy Meyers: Probably putting him in an action pose that will really show the viewer what type of character he is and what he's about--you can tell a lot about a guy just from the pose he's in.
DragynWulf: If given the chance, would you like to work on the character again?
Jonboy Meyers: Mos Def!
